Traditionally, the grooms responsibilites have been fewer than those of the bride.  Today, however, the groom plays a vital part in assuring a well-planned beautiful wedding.  Besides helping with the general wedding plans, there are several specific tasks that are the groom's responsibility.


Use our checklist to keep everything running smoothly until the honeymoon begins.
6 months before the wedding

Purchase wedding rings.

With the bride, determine the number of guests to be invited to the wedding and begin compiling addesses of your guests.

Choose the best man and groomsmen.

Arrange an appointment with the officiant to disuss and plan the ceremony.

Discuss honeymoon plans with the bride and begin making reservations for lodging and transportation.

Remember to update your passports if you will be travelling abroad.

4 months before the wedding

With the bride, select and order your wedding invitations, announcements, and other wedding stationary and reception needs.

Complete the guest list.

With your parents, begin making plans for the rehearsal dinner.

2 months before the wedding

Select formal wear and schedule fittings for you and your groomsmen.

Call your county clerk's office for the marriage license regulations for your state or province.

6 weeks before the wedding

Purchase gifts for your groomsmen.

Purchase gift for the bride -  Select a timeless gift that she will treasure forever.

2 weeks before the wedding

Discuss "get away" Plans with your best man.

Confirm rehearsal dinner arrangements.

Notify your attendants of rehearsal time.

Confim honeymoon reservation.
